 Air Conditioner Installation: Vent Hoses

Air-Conditioning

Portable air conditioner installation includes the use of vent hoses. While the air conditioner is portable, and can be easily moved, you will still need to vent to push out the hot air and circulate the cold air into the room.

Slide Exhaust Connector into Window

When you are doing your air conditioner installation, you start with the exhaust connector. Slide this into the window over the discharge opening of the air conditioner. Connect with the clamp that is provided.

Install Window Kit

With every portable air conditioner there will be a window kit for the vent hoses. This is to keep the hoses from being bent, or crushed by the window. Place the kit inside the window and make any adjustments you need with a utility knife.

Connect Vent Hose

To finish off the air conditioner installation, secure the vent hose to the window kit with the clamps that are supplied, and connect to the exhaust. Apply a small, thin bead of caulking to any cracks that you might see around the window kit. Make sure that the vent hose is unobstructed. There shouldn't be any limbs, bushes, or other obstructions near the vent. Attach a screen over the vent to keep out any birds.
